“People think that the difference between a good life and a bad one is money, luck or fame. But the real difference can be found in one word: attitude..” — Dr. Robyn Silverman – Kapatid Martial Arts’ Child Development Expert

July 2010 is Attitude Month as part of Kapatid Martial Arts’ POWerful Words Character Development program! Students will be studying, developing and experiencing powerful life lessons focusing on how to develop a positive attitude in a fun and successful way that works for everybody. In addition to all of the physical skills that they’ll be developing this month, students will be discussing and practicing the following concepts that will help them to realize and appreciate the value and benefit of being the kind of person who’s positive attitude helps him to become a leader to those around him. Students will be focusing on the following topics both in and out of class:

What is attitude? Positive attitude vs Negative attitude

Thoughts and Feelings: How do thoughts and feelings affect attitude?

Actions: How do people with positive or negative attitudes behave?

Choosing our attitude: Becoming more positive and how changing affects ourselves and others.

“Our attitude colors every part of our life and even when we try to cover it up, it always tends to find a way to seep out.” says Dr. Robyn Silverman, Kapatid Martial Arts’ child & adolescent expert, and creator of the POWerful Words Character Development program used at the facility. “It’s vital that we talk to our children about it because unlike so many of our characteristics, attitudes are in our control to maintain or change each and every day.”

Patrick Consing, Executive Director of Kapatid Martial Arts Academy says, “At our academy, attitude is everything. People are always commenting about the positive energy they feel when they enter our school or meet one of our students…and this all stems from their attitude! This is a skill that each of our students can hone, regardless of their athletic abilities, so it’s truly a life skill that will benefit them for their entire life.”

Kapatid Martial Arts’ strong curriculum and the POWerful Words Character Development system provide our students with the opportunities to become UNSTOPPABLE in life. These lessons will remain with our students for life and we’re honored to help them achieve the success that they deserve” says Consing.

(Pleasantville, NY) – June 2010 is Focus Month as part of Kapatid Martial Arts Academy’s POWerful Words Character Development program! Students will be studying, developing and experiencing powerful life lessons focusing on how to sharpen their focus skills in a fun and positive way that works for everybody. In addition to all of the physical skills that they’ll be developing this month, students will be discussing and practicing the following concepts that will help them to understand and appreciate the value and benefit of being a focused person in all aspects of their lives. Students will be focusing on the following topics both in and out of class:

Defining Focus: What is focus and how can I use it?

Distractions: How can I block out distractions and help myself focus?

Focus at home, school and class: What skills take focus and where and when do you use it?

Benefits and Consequences: How can focus or lack of focus change my results?

“Focus opens the door to our dreams—it allows us to goal set, realize our goals, and discover that we have the power to succeed in anything we put our minds to” says Dr. Robyn Silverman, Kapatid Martial Arts Academy’s child & adolescent expert, and creator of the POWerful Words Character Development program used at the facility. “We must encourage our children to peel away the noise so they can be more targeted in their listening, watching, and understanding of what’s around them.”

Guro Patrick Consing, Chief Instructor of Kapatid Martial Arts Academy says, “Focus is really a huge key to success. This is a skill that each of our students can hone, regardless of their athletic abilities, so it’s truly a life skill that will benefit them for their entire life. As our students develop their focus here at our school this month, they will most certainly benefit here, at school and out in the real world – which is the real goal of our programs. We’re proud to be surrounded with strong, kind, talented and disciplined students and are honored to help them develop themselves for a future filled with success.”

Kapatid Martial Arts Academy’s strong curriculum and the POWerful Words Character Development system provide our students with the opportunities to become UNSTOPPABLE in life.

(Pleasantville, NY) – May 2010 is Sportsmanship Month as part of Kapatid Martial Arts Academy’s POWerful Words Character Development program! Students will be studying, developing and experiencing powerful life lessons focusing on how to hone their sportsmanship skills in a fun and positive way that works for everybody. In addition to all of the physical skills that they’ll be developing this month, students will be discussing and practicing the following concepts that will help them to understand and appreciate the value and benefit of showing sportsmanship in all aspects of their lives. Students will be focusing on the following topics both in and out of class:

Playing by the rules: How can I be safe and fair?

Competitors and spectators: How should we act?

Winning and losing: How can we do both graciously and respectfully?

Dealing with the outcome: What can we learn for next time?

“Sportsmanship is usually associated with ones attitude while competing in sports. However, good sportsmanship is important in all moments of competition.” says Dr. Robyn Silverman, Kapatid Martial Arts Academy’s child & adolescent expert, and creator of the POWerful Words Character Development program used at the facility. “Whether its how a child reacts when he scores higher or lower than his brother on a test, how he plays a board game with his friend, or whether he chooses to cheat or follow the rules in sports, sportsmanship is necessary.”

Patrick Consing, Executive Director of Kapatid Martial Arts Academy says, “Sportsmanship is a key attribute to becoming a powerful leader. As our students work on their sportsmanship here at our school this month, they will most certainly benefit here, at school and out in the real world – which is the real goal of our programs. They’ll develop the life skills to successfully build friendships and relationships that can last a lifetime. We’re confident that by helping our students hone this skill, we’ll be helping build tomorrow’s leaders…TODAY! We’re proud to be surrounded with strong, kind, talented and disciplined students and are honored to help them develop themselves for a future filled with success.”
